Did you know that eighty percent of Americans owe more than they own? Whether they know it or not, these people are economic failures. Is it any wonder, then, that children growing up in these homes will learn the faulty financial habits of their parents?

"Who is there to teach them? ... the TV? ... your neighbors? ... their peers? ... or you?", ask Ron and Judy Blue, authors of Money Matters for Parents and Their Kids.

This book focuses on four skills that children need to know in order to become financially mature: 1) budgeting, 2) purchasing, 3) decision making, and 4) goal setting. These skills are all founded in biblical principals, yet the sad truth is that Christians are often no better money managers than non-Christians.

While the authors acknowledge that many parents want to train their children to be financially mature, they also acknowledge that many simply don't know how to go about it.

Ron Blue, a Certified Public Accountant, has more than twenty year's experience helping people plan for their future. Judy Blue is a graduate of Indiana University, with a bachelor's degree in speech and hearing therapy and a master's degree in counseling and guidance.

As the parents of five grown children, these issues are very dear to their hearts. So, having realized that it is possible for a student to go all the way through high school, college, and graduate school without taking any courses in personal money management, the Blues have used their research and personal experiences to offer workable guidelines of the "why's" and "how to's" of family finances. Their book covers a wide spectrum of possible family needs, from first allowances to estate planning. The authors show you step-by-step how to give a clear and Godly message about money and spending habits to your children, while gently pointing out the pitfalls to avoid in our materialistic society.
